Speech, Language, and Literacy Screening Program
Fremantle Speech Pathology Services has been conducting screening projects in Perth metropolitan schools for nearly 20 years. We usually work with students from kindergarten through to Year one; it involves the design and administration of a brief screening test for all children in a class.
The purpose of a screening test is to identify speech, language and reading difficulties as early as possible so that they can be treated sooner rather than later. Early intervention is so important!
If a school wishes to undertake the screening of children, the speech pathologist will design the testing battery required for that age of child. Each student will be assessed individually; their results are then analysed and collated in a written report. Feedback meetings with teachers or information presentations to parents are also an option.

We have now opened up this screening program for all children, not just those at schools we are contracted to.
Our screening program is designed to provide a rapid and reliable profile of a child’s proficiency across crucial areas required for a strong performance at school. Results can be useful in determining if a child needs additional support or if they can be extended in their learning.

The areas assessed vary depending on the child's year level:

Kindergarten ($100)

Pre-Primary ($100)

Schools interested in the program are welcome to contact us at contact@freospeech.com.au. Otherwise, the Junior Primary Screening Program often runs at the clinic over the school holidays for parents seeking to have their children screened. The session can take anywhere between 30 - 60 minutes to complete.

The cost includes the assessment session, analysis of results, and a written report. These screening assessments can be claimed through private health depending on your level of coverage.
